| Practicing marriage and family therapy means that I work with couples and families, but I also work with individuals. In fact many of my clients are individuals. Approaching counseling with a marriage and family background means that I help you expore your current and past relationships with the important people in your life, the situations and circumstances you face, and the experiences you have had. Therapy isn't about figuring out what is "wrong" with you, it's about figuring out what is no longer working, what is no longer healthy, and how to change it so you are a happier healthier you. During this process I work with my clients to find solutions for their specific problems, and help them establish and achieve the goals they set for themselves. I have helped clients find solutions for a variety of struggles, including:
Regardless of whether you are dealing with one of these or are facing a different issue altogether, I can help. I use evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help you achieve your goals and get on with living the life you envision for yourself. I will work to create with you a relationship of trust and safety while providing you with a supportive, warm and non-judgmental environment. And while I will be an open and empathetic listener, I will also challenge you to help you create the change you desire in your life, your relationships, and yourself. Victim/WitnessIf you have witnessed a crime or have been the victim of a crime (and a police report has been filed), you are eligible for free counseling. You may be having difficulty sleeping, or you may be experiencing nightmares, anxiety, worry, or muscle tension. These are just some of the symptoms that people who have been exposed to crime experience.
If you choose to contact me for a 30-minute phone session, or to make an appointment, be sure to let me know about your situation. |
